Blepharoplasty is the technical term for what is commonly referred to as eye lift surgery. While blepharoplasty may be used to obtain cosmetic benefits, it may also be a medically necessary procedure to improve your vision.
When you are considering a blepharoplasty to correct your vision impairment, contact Dr. Elizabeth for a consultation. Dr. Elizabeth will take the time to thoroughly understand your needs and concerns while he assesses your medical history to determine if you are a good candidate for a blepharoplasty procedure. Drooping eyelids (also called Ptosis) can be responsible for substantial vision impairment. While droopy eyelids can occur in both children and adults, it is usually something that occurs with age. When droopy eyelids are impairing your vision, insurance may cover the expense of a blepharoplasty. In order to seek insurance coverage, you must have a field vision study—taped and un-taped—conducted by an ophthalmologist. This study is an objective way to reveal if your eyelid skin is responsible for your vision obstruction and if a blepharoplasty is medically necessary.
